Wedding Cakes – Terms and Conditions

Applicable to wedding cakes and all related wedding orders, e.g., cupcakes, favours, and other wedding-related items.

1. Booking & Deposits

• Wedding orders are only confirmed once a non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of £100 has been paid.
• Deposits must be received within 7 days of receiving the booking form, or by the date stated on the invoice. After this period, the date will be released and made available to other clients.
• Dates cannot be held without a deposit.

2. Final Payments

• The remaining balance must be paid in full 6 weeks before the wedding date.
• For bookings made less than 6 weeks in advance, full payment is required at the time of booking.
• If full payment is not received by the due date, the order may be cancelled, and the deposit forfeited.

3. Client Cancellations

• If the order is cancelled by the client:
 – More than 90 days before the agreed date – deposit forfeited.
 – 90 to 42 days before the date – deposit plus 50% of the remaining balance is due.
 – Less than 6 weeks before the date – full payment is due.
• The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.
• Any expenses already incurred by The Cherished Cake will also be chargeable.

4. Our Cancellation

• In the rare event The Cherished Cake must cancel due to illness or exceptional circumstances, as much notice as possible will be given.
• A full refund will be provided, and we will try to help you find a suitable alternative cake maker.
• We shall not be liable for failure to perform due to circumstances beyond our control (e.g., extreme weather, accidents, breakdowns, strikes, acts of war, etc.).

5. Postponements

• We are happy to transfer your booking to a new wedding date, subject to availability.
• If the new date is unavailable, the deposit remains non-refundable and non-transferable.
• Bookings can only be postponed once. Any further postponements will be treated as a cancellation.

6. Alterations

• We will try to accommodate changes to your order, but changes requested less than 6 weeks before the wedding date may not be possible.
• An amendment fee may apply depending on the nature of the change.

7. Delivery & Setup

• A personal delivery and setup service is available, subject to availability, and must be arranged in advance.
• We will liaise with your venue to confirm the delivery time and setup location.
• Once the cake is delivered and signed for by the venue or a nominated person, responsibility passes to them.
• Cake tables should be placed on a level, stable surface, out of direct sunlight and not moved after setup.
• The Cherished Cake is not responsible for any damage that occurs after delivery and setup.

8. Cake Stand Hire

• Cake stands are available to hire and require a £100 refundable security deposit, payable with your final balance.
• Stands must be returned undamaged within 3 calendar days of your event.
• If the stand is damaged, returned late, or not returned at all, the replacement cost will be deducted from your deposit.
• Cake stands must be returned in person – they are fragile and not suitable for posting or courier services.
• If you would like us to collect the stand after the wedding, this can be arranged in advance for a fee equal to your original delivery charge.
• It is the client’s responsibility to ensure the stand is returned on time. We recommend appointing someone to do this on your behalf if you are travelling from a distant venue.
• If the cake stand is provided by a third party (e.g., the client or venue), it must be suitable for the size and weight of the cake. We are not responsible for any issues caused by unsuitable stands.
• On the day of delivery, if the provided stand is deemed unstable or unsafe, we reserve the right not to use it. In this case, the cake will be set up directly on the table or another suitable surface.

9. Allergies & Dietary Requirements

• Gluten-free options are available, but we do not offer dairy-free or nut-free cakes.
• All cakes are made in a kitchen that handles gluten, nuts, eggs, dairy, and other allergens.
• While we take care to avoid cross-contamination, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.
• Allergy information will be clearly labelled on cake boxes or packaging.
• Clients are responsible for informing their guests of any allergy risks.

10. Design & Variations

• All cakes are handmade and may vary slightly from inspiration images or sketches.
• Colours, flowers, and finishes may differ slightly due to seasonal or supplier changes.
• We do not replicate other cake designers’ work. We will use inspiration, but provide our own interpretation.

11. Complaints

• Please raise any issues or concerns at the time of delivery or setup.
• If there is a problem, it must be reported in writing within 24 hours.
• At least 75% of the cake must be returned to assess complaints.
• Refunds will not be given for issues resulting from personal preference, damage after delivery, or errors made by the client (e.g., incorrect names or dates given).

12. Social Media

• If you share photos of your cake on social media, we’d love it if you tag us @thecherishedcake.
• Thank you for supporting a small business!

13. Ownership & Use of Designs

• All designs remain the property of The Cherished Cake.
• We reserve the right to use photos of your cake for promotional use, including on our website, social media, and printed materials.
• All photos, illustrations and descriptions shown on our pages are for guidance only.

14. Terms Updates

• The Cherished Cake’s Terms and Conditions are reviewed and updated regularly.
• It is the client’s responsibility to review them from time to time to stay informed of any changes.
